We went to the Red Bull Tennessee Knockout 2026 to see what the LAND Moto District could handle.
We came back realizing the motorcycle was capable of far more than we expected.
At one of the most demanding hard enduro events in the country, the LAND Moto District found itself surrounded by purpose-built dirt bikes, steep climbs, rocks, creek beds and technical terrain.
And it held its own.
That became the story of our weekend at TKO.
It was not simply that an electric motorcycle showed up to a hard enduro event. It was that the District proved there was significantly more off-road capability hiding in the platform than even we realized.
Taking the LAND Moto District to Red Bull TKO
The Tennessee Knockout, commonly known as TKO, is built around difficult terrain.
Steep elevation changes, loose rock, roots, creek crossings and slow technical sections test both the motorcycle and the rider.
Most motorcycles competing at TKO are purpose-built dirt bikes designed specifically for this kind of riding.
The District comes from a very different world.
It was designed as a lightweight electric motorcycle capable of moving between city streets, backroads and dirt. Its versatility has always been one of the defining characteristics of the platform.
TKO gave us an opportunity to find out how far that versatility could actually go.
Once we got the District into the terrain, the answer started becoming clear.
Farther than we thought.
How the Electric District Performed Against Dirt Bikes
The biggest surprise of the weekend was how comfortable the District looked and felt alongside traditional dirt bikes.
Its lightweight chassis made it easy to maneuver through tight and technical sections.
Electric torque was available immediately when Scott needed power for a climb or obstacle.
The simple drivetrain allowed him to focus on throttle control, balance and line choice without managing a clutch or shifting gears through difficult sections.
Those qualities already make the District responsive during everyday riding.
At TKO, they became genuine off-road advantages.
Instead of the terrain simply exposing what the District could not do, we repeatedly found ourselves discovering things it could.
That changed the way we looked at the motorcycle.
An Electric Motorcycle in Hard Enduro Terrain
Technical off-road riding makes some of the advantages of an electric motorcycle especially noticeable.
There is no clutch to manage.
There is no need to find the right gear halfway through an obstacle.
Torque is available immediately, while precise throttle control allows the rider to carefully manage how much power reaches the rear wheel.
When traction is limited, that control matters.
The District could move slowly and deliberately through technical terrain, then deliver power immediately when a climb demanded it.
Combined with the motorcycle's low weight, the electric drivetrain created a riding experience that worked remarkably well in an environment dominated by conventional dirt bikes.
The more difficult the terrain became, the more interesting the District became.
The District Was More Capable Than We Expected
We already knew the LAND Moto District could handle pavement, backroads, dirt roads and trails.
TKO pushed that understanding much further.
The motorcycle was being compared directly against machines designed almost entirely around off-road performance.
And the gap was much smaller than we expected.
That was one of the most valuable things we learned at the 2026 Tennessee Knockout.
A motorcycle does not necessarily need to be hyper-specialized to be capable.
Getting the fundamentals right matters.
Low weight.
Predictable handling.
Controllable torque.
A responsive chassis.
A drivetrain that lets the rider concentrate on the terrain ahead.
The District already had those characteristics.
TKO simply gave us an extreme environment in which to see what they were capable of.
LAND Moto CEO Scott Colosimo Races TKO
LAND founder and CEO Scott Colosimo was the one racing the District.
He was not standing in the pits watching someone else test the motorcycle.
He was on it.
That is important to the way we develop motorcycles at LAND.
We ride what we build.
We test ideas ourselves.
We push motorcycles beyond the environments they normally experience and use what we learn to influence what comes next.
Every climb, obstacle and technical section at TKO gave our team another data point.
Some confirmed things we already knew about the District.
Others completely changed our expectations.
All of that knowledge came back to Cleveland with us.
What TKO Taught Us About the LAND Moto District
The Tennessee Knockout showed us that the District's versatility extends considerably further than the typical definition of a street motorcycle.
That does not mean we are trying to turn every District into a competition dirt bike.
It means the underlying motorcycle is capable enough to adapt.
Your District might spend most of its time commuting through the city, taking the long way home or exploring backroads.
But underneath that everyday usability is a platform with a surprising amount of capability.
TKO gave us a chance to uncover some of it.
The motorcycle went into Tennessee surrounded by purpose-built dirt bikes.
It left with us asking a different question:
How far can we take the District next?
